A new seafood restaurant with mouth-watering dishes, including sand crab lasagne and lobster thermidor, has opened on the Capricorn Coast.

OFISHAL Beachclub opened its doors to customers on Friday, July 26.

The restaurant is owned by Tanya and Grant Lynch, who also own Vue Wine Bar and Restaurant and are co-owners of Crimson Finch Brewery, together with Sharon Delaney.

Ms Lynch said the site had become vacant following the closure of Alfies and they saw it as a good opportunity to “jump on straight away”.

“It is bringing a beach vibe to Yeppoon and a seafood restaurant, which is well in need of in the area,” she said.

“When people come to the beach they are always looking for seafood.

“The location is exceptional.

“It is the heart of Yeppoon.

“It overlooks the beautiful islands.”

She said Sharon, a local entrepreneur and someone the couple had known for years, came up with the name of the restaurant.

“Sharron very cleverly came up with the name OFISHAL, it has a two-pronged meaning,” she said.

“Then we worked with our graphic designer to come up with the logo.

“Being on the beach you have to have a beach fit out.

“Sharron and I did the interior design ourselves and we think it came up pretty good.

“We have been working very hard in the background getting everything together.

“It is good to have partners that have the same vision and values as what we do.”

While Tanya and Sharon had been working on the front of house, she said Grant had been out the back getting the menu up and running.

“We’ve got a really good operator who is getting us some incredible seafood,” she said.

“We have an offering of sand crab lasagne. I don’t think anyone in the area has ever done that.

“Lobster thermidor is another great option for seafood.

“Moreton Bay bugs with the green peppercorn and sauce is just so delicious.”

She said while the menu was predominantly seafood, there was other food on offer.

“There is a beautiful eye fillet of steak that is to die for,” she said.

“We have a chicken dish, we have a pork dish.

“We cater for everybody.

“We will run this menu for a good six months and then we will turn things over.

“We will keep the favourites on. The customers will always dictate what they love to eat.”

She said Crimson Finch would also be on tap.

“Grant and I have been in business for 12 years,” she said.

“We know what people want in the town.

“We love working with other hospitality businesses.

“When we network together we can grow together.

“It’s important the more we have on offer in Yeppoon it brings more people to come and visit.”

OFISHAL Beachclub is open Wednesday to Sunday on Anzac Parade in Yeppoon.
