Benaraby crash: Bruce Highway closed after trucks, car collide

A truck driver, trapped in a wreck which closed the Bruce Hwy for several hours, remains in a serious condition on Tuesday as the Forensic Crash Unit investigates. UPDATES.

A man remains in a serious condition after a multi-vehicle crash south of Gladstone on Monday.

Emergency crews, including the RACQ CapRescue helicopter, were called to the incident on the Bruce Highway at Benaraby about 12.30pm.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics assessed two people at the scene.

She said one man, who was the driver of one of the trucks, required extrication and sustained head, chest and leg injuries.

He was flown to Rockhampton Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Another person as also assessed on scene but was not injured.

The Bruce Hwy was closed in both directions for a number of hours and reopened at 9.30pm.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

It comes after a two-car crash on the highway at Tiaro, while emergency crews have also raced to the scene of an incident at Gunalda where a man has reportedly fallen into a creek.
