A man in his 80s has been taken to hospital with possible hypothermia and a sore shoulder after falling into a creek and becoming stuck in mud at Gunalda.
Emergency crews were called about 11.20am, the same time emergency crews were also rushing to a two-car crash on the Bruce Hwy near Tiaro.
A QAS spokeswoman said it was not known how long the man had been stuck in the mud but he was “hypothermic” from the cold temperatures, which in Gympie were still below five degrees at 7am.
He was taken to Gympie Hospital in a stable condition.
Further north on the highway at the crash, which happened near the intersection with Bauple Dr, paramedics were not required to treat any of the cars’ occupants.
