The case against two young men allegedly busted with a massive amount of meth has reach the supreme court.
Indictments against Brandon Saysana Phommaly and Pokee Oscar Phalaklang were presented in Rockhampton Supreme Court on Monday charging each with aggravated drug offending, which has a maximum penalty of 25 years jail.
Police allege Mr Phommaly, 26, and Mr Phalaklang, 20 were in a rented Toyota RAV4 when officers stopped them on Broad St, Sarina for allegedly speeding about 9.45pm on July 22, 2023.
Officers searched the vehicle and allegedly uncovered 3.195kg of meth in bags stashed in the footwell behind the driver’s seat as well as a small amount of cocaine.
As a result the duo, who are distant cousins from New South Wales, were arrested but have since been released on bail on strict conditions include no contact with each other and surrendering their passports.
The meth has a wholesale value of about $400,000 but could fetch up to about $1.38m if sold by the point at street level.
Both men have been charged with aggravated meth possession in that the amount allegedly exceeded 200g.
Mr Phommaly is also charged with possessing the cocaine.
No pleas were entered and matters were adjourned to late September for mention.
