A 69-year-old man has died almost three weeks after a truck carrying construction material collided with his ute.

The Hampden man had been flown to Townsville University Hospital with critical injuries following the crash along the Bruce Highway at Glenella about 12.30pm on February 26.

It is understood the man’s ute had been travelling on Glendaragh Rd when it turned onto the highway and allegedly T-boned a white Isuzu truck.

The truck, which was carrying construction materials, was driven by a 53-year-old Calen man who sustained minor injuries.

A Queensland Police Service statement said the Hampden man “succumbed to his injuries” on Saturday, March 16.

“The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating,” the statement said.

“Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV from the area around the time of the incident is urged to contact police.”
