Mackay police, SES search for Scott Billingham in bushland in Andergrove

Emergency services are combing through difficult terrain for a second day to try find a North Queensland man who was last spotted at a bottle-o after going missing more than a week ago.

Police and SES are searching bushland in Mackay for a second day to try find a 38-year-old man who was last seen at a bottle-o eight days ago.

Scott Billingham went missing on the afternoon of March 8 from an address along Andergrove Rd in Andergrove.

Police officers on Friday morning erected a forward command post more than 3km away receiving intel that Mr Billingham was picked up from a pub and dropped off at the BWS at the shopping precinct on the corner of Emperor Dr and Nadarmi Dr.

He was then observed walking away from the liquor store and down Emperor Dr.

The emergency services’ command post is located on a vacant block sectioned between Emperor Dr, Porpoise Dr and Dugong Dr, which backs onto bushland and borders MacKillop Catholic Primary School.

More than a dozen police officers and SES were searching the grounds on Friday before packing up about 4pm and re-establishing the post on Saturday morning.

It is understood the terrain, which includes drains, as well as the humid weather has made the search difficult.

Mr Billingham’s disappearance has been described as “out of character” with police officers over the past couple of days speaking with shopkeepers at the Andergrove shopping precinct.

The Queensland Police Service on Wednesday stated family members and officers were concerned for Mr Billingham who suffered from a health condition.

“Scott is described as caucasian, around 175cm tall, with a proportionate build, with a bald head,” it stated.

“Police are appealing for anyone who knows Scott’s whereabouts to contact police.”
