Committal documents for the case against a mother accused of allegedly trying to kill her teen daughter by stabbing her multiple times are being prepared to move the matter to the supreme court.
The Dysart woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of stabbing the 17 year old girl in the chest six times on July 18, 2022 at a Dysart address.
She is charged with attempt to murder (domestic violence offence), common assault, and serious assault resisting or obstructing a police officer or a person acting in aid of a police officer and has been held in custody on remand for three years.
Her matters were briefly mentioned in Mackay Magistrates Court on Tuesday which heard paperwork was being prepared for a registry committal.
A registry committal is the administrative process of moving a case from the magistrates court to a higher court.
Because of the nature of the charges, the woman’s case must be dealt with in the supreme court.
Matters have been adjourned to late August so the registry committal process can occur.
Once the documents are filed the case will come under the carriage of the Department of Public Prosecution, which will have six months to formally lay charges in that higher court.
