Police are investigating the source of a suspicious blaze which fully engulfed a house in the Mackay CBD which had been the site of another blaze last year.
Three Queensland Fire Department crews were called to the Wellington St and River St home just before 10pm on Monday after residents reported flames coming from a house.
A Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said the fire was being treated as suspicious though there were no reports of people inside the building.
Firefighters had the blaze under control by about 10.20pm but were called back to the address about 3am after the fire reignited.
It comes nearly six months to the day when a family lost everything they had in a horror blaze in the same home.
Members of the family, including a younger son with autism, narrowly escaped the blaze on October 1 with the mother being pulled from the burning building.
No one was charged for last year’s blaze and the investigation was closed.
Burnt toys, prams and kitchenware remained scattered across the front part of the house showing remnants of last year’s blaze.
But it was the remaining timber structure at the back part of the residence that engulfed overnight.
Police are currently on scene to identify the cause of the blaze.
