Police shut the Bruce Highway north of Rockhampton on Monday night for six-and-a-half hours due to flash flooding from heavy rainfall.

Just before 9pm, Queensland Police Service said the highway was closed between Marlborough and Yaamba due to flooding.

One truck driver in the Yaamba area reported water over the road up to his headlights.

Police had advised motorists to delay travel.

A QPS spokesman said the highway was reopened at 3.30am on Tuesday.

Meanwhile at Kunwarara Rd on Monday night, also north of Rockhampton, a truck was stuck in floodwaters.

A QPS spokesman said the truck on Kunwarara Rd came to grief about 7.45pm.

The police spokesman said the driver was out of the vehicle and not injured, and recovery efforts were being arranged.
