Man in 30s dies in Rockhampton motorbike crash

Paramedics tried desperately to save the life of a motorbike rider following a horror crash in Central Qld on Saturday night, but he died at the scene.

A man in his 30s has died after a serious traffic motorbike crash in the Rockhampton suburb of Frenchville on Saturday, March 29.

Initial investigations indicated the motorbike he was riding was heading west on Kerrigan Street just after 7pm when it collided with a Toyota Rav4 travelling in the opposite direction at the intersection of Perrier Avenue.

The 35-year-old rider was declared dead at the scene.

A man aged in his 20s driving the Rav4 and his female passenger also aged in her 20s, were uninjured.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing, police said in a statement released on Sunday.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said multiple paramedic units attended the crash.

They tried to treat the motorcycle rider life-threatening injuries at the scene but were unsuccessful.
