Alleged car thief arrested on cane farm in Te Kowai
An alleged car thief has been arrested on a cane farm outside Mackay after a quick-thinking farmer spotted a vehicle looking out of place.

A would-be car thief was arrested after allegedly crashing a stolen vehicle in a cane field, bogging it, and attempting to flee on foot.
Queensland Police were investigating the theft of a car stolen on the night of January 30 from a Beaconsfield home when they arrived at Hills Rd farm in Te Kowai, just outside of Mackay.
Acting Sergeant with the Calen Police, Steve Littlewood said law enforcement was alerted to the vehicle’s presence by landowners.
“They confirmed the location with us at 1:44pm and he was in custody by 2pm,” Mr Littlewood said.
“Pretty impressive response time if you ask me.”
The alleged thief was hiding in the cane fields when police found him.
Queensland Police had closed parts of Hills Rd, but by 2:30 they had departed.
Police have charged a 29 year old Andergrove man with unlawful use of a motor vehicle and failure to dispose of a needle.
The man has been refused bail and will appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court today.
