Dashcam footage has emerged of what is believed to be a motorcyclist riding at extremely high speeds just moments before a fatal crash west of Ipswich earlier this week.

The police Forensic Crash Unit is still investigating after a man died when the motorbike he was riding crashed into a car towing a caravan along the Warrego Highway near Haigslea-Amberly Road at Haigslea about 12.40pm on May 27.

The man, a 22-year-old from Darling Heights, died at the scene.

Quest Newspapers has obtained dashcam footage from a motorist, believed to have been driving along that same stretch of highway minutes before the crash which other motorists described as “horrific”.

The footage purportedly showed the motorbike which crashed, believed to be the first motorbike in the video.

It appeared to weave through traffic at high speed, passing other commuters near the Redbank and Collingwood Park exit.

The owner of the dashcam footage said he had sent the vision to police.

Police confirmed the motorbike involved in the crash was unregistered.

The driver and passenger of the car were not injured.

Forensic testing was needed to identify the motorbike rider.

Police were still preparing a report for the coroner.

They appealed for any witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
