An application has been submitted to Ipswich City Council seeking approval to build the three-bedroom townhouses across the road from a supermarket.

A development application has been submitted to Ipswich City Council for a new unit block in Booval.

A house across the road from an Aldi supermarket in Ipswich will be replaced with a six-unit complex if the council gives its approval.

Longstanding local architecture firm Tait Morton Johnston has submitted a development application to Ipswich City Council, seeking approval to build six three-bedroom townhouses in Booval.

The house at 16 Clifton Street will be demolished or removed from the site to make way for the proposed development.

The proposed two-storey unit block would take up 39 per cent of the 1012 m2 site, the application noted.

The land is already zoned as medium density.

The size of each unit ranges from 138 m2 to 158m2 with each containing a small backyard.

“The site is currently occupied by a rental home, the intent is to either demolish or remove the existing residence to produce a vacant development site,” the application noted.

“The current residence is generally in very average condition, having been a rental property for many years.”

Each unit will include bedrooms on the top floor, a garage and living and dining spaces on the ground floor.

“(There will be an) external recreation space off the living space on the northern boundary,” the application noted.

The house already on the site will be knocked down for the new facilities.

“The site has been designed to allow vehicles to enter and leave the site in forward gear.

“A driveway is proposed on the northern end of the site to allow a turn around.

“Vehicle manoeuvring and turning circles are included in the drawings to demonstrate that there is adequate space to turn vehicles on site.”
