Operation Whiskey Decker: 19 people charged across Mount Isa, Mackay, Ipswich, Logan, Gold Coast

Police say they have busted open a Queensland-wide drug syndicate operating between Mount Isa and Brisbane, resulting in more than 270 charges.

An alleged meth syndicate operating from Northwest Queensland has been disrupted following a major police operation spread from Brisbane to Mount Isa.

Operation Whiskey Decker, which included the Mount Isa Tactical Crime Squad Northern Major and Organised Crime Squad (MOCS) and Gold Coast MOCS, has led to 19 people being charged with 271 drug offences.

Queensland Police said they had identified a network of alleged drug traffickers responsible for the alleged supply of cocaine, methylamphetamine, MDMA, cannabis and heroin throughout Queensland and seized more than $110,000 in cash, 35g of cocaine and more than 270g of meth bound for Mount Isa.

Police search warrants at addresses across Mount Isa, Mackay, Ipswich, Logan and the Gold Coast were assisted with dog and fly-in squads.

Nine people between the ages of 25 to 42 were arrested in Mount Isa on drug offences.

Two Ipswich women allegedly trafficked drugs in Mount Isa across 2024 and 2025.

In Logan, four people were arrested — one for alleged drug trafficking and the other three for alleged drug possession.

A police spokesman said Mount Isa TCS officers worked “relentlessly, over months” to investigate the alleged offences and disrupt and prevent the trafficking and supply of illicit drugs within the community.

Mount Isa District Tactical Crime Squad officer Sergeant Nate Carlton added “significant” resources were used.

“Drugs cause considerable harm and misery in families and the wider community,” Sergeant Carlton said.

“We are committed to disrupting the trafficking and supply of drugs and ask the public to continue assisting us by providing any information regarding drug supply.

“Police fully utilise and investigate all information provided by members of the public to prevent, deter, disrupt and intercept illicit drug production, trafficking and sale in Mount Isa and across Queensland.”

Police have shared the below information on the people who have been charged.

Mount Isa

A 42-year-old woman was charged with eight counts of supplying dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing things used in commission of a crime and one count of trafficking dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine). She was remanded in custody to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on July 16.

A 38-year-old woman was charged with six counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count of trafficking dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine). She was remanded in custody to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on July 16.

A 35-year-old woman was charged with eight counts of supplying dangerous drugs, three counts of possessing things used in commission of a crime and one count of trafficking dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine). She is due to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on June 9.

A 39-year-old man was charged with 17 counts of supplying dangerous drugs and one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine) and possessing things used in commission of a crime. He was remanded in custody to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on July 16.

A 25-year-old man was charged with eight counts of supplying dangerous drugs, three counts of possessing thing used in commission of a crime and one count of trafficking dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine). He was remanded in custody to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on July 16.

A 31-year-old man was charged with one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine), possessing thing used in commission of a crime and possessing drug utensils. He is due to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on June 16.

A 35-year-old man was charged with four counts of supplying dangerous drugs and two counts each of trafficking dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine and MDMA) and contravention of domestic violence order. He was remanded in custody to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on July 28.

A 39-year-old man was charged with 13 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine and cannabis) and one count each of possessing thing used in commission of a crime, possessing property suspected of being acquired from supply, possessing drug utensils and unlawful possession of Category M Weapon. He was remanded in custody to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on July 16.

A 27-year-old man was charged with three counts of possessing things used in commission of a crime and one count each of possessing dangerous drugs (exceed schedule) (methylamphetamine), possessing dangerous drugs (cocaine), supplying dangerous drugs and possessing property suspected of being proceeds of an offence under DMA. He is due to appear in Mount Isa Magistrates Court on June 9.

Mackay

A 31-year-old East Mackay man was charged with 23 offences including six counts of trafficking dangerous drugs (methylamphetamine, MDMA, cannabis, heroin and cocaine), two counts of supplying a drug to a minor, and one count each of money laundering and attempting to procure the commission of a criminal act. He was remanded in custody to reappear in Mackay Magistrates Court on August 13.

A 39-year-old East Mackay woman was charged with 14 offences including two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs, and one count each of money laundering and attempting to procure a criminal act. She was remanded in custody to reappear in Mackay Magistrates Court on August 13.

Police will allege that over a two-year period, the man and woman acted as major drug suppliers to the Central and Northwest areas of Queensland. They are alleged to have received more than 15kg of methylamphetamine during this time, which was sold through various associates. At least 1.6kg was sold to associates in Mount Isa, and 500g to associates in Moranbah. They are also accused of advertising to pay $10,000 to associates in exchange for the serious assault of a criminal associate.

A 47-year-old South Mackay man was charged with 16 offences including trafficking in dangerous drugs, supplying dangerous drugs and attempting to procure a criminal act. The man is alleged to have supplied at least 7kg of methylamphetamine in the previous 12 months and is also accused of advertising to pay $10,000 to associates in exchange for the serious assault of a criminal associate. He was remanded in custody to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on August 20.

Ipswich

A 30-year-old Ipswich woman was charged with 51 offences, and a 40-year-old Ipswich woman was charged with 42 offences. The two are accused of trafficking drugs in Mount Isa throughout 2024 and 2025. Both have been remanded to appear in Mt Isa Magistrates Court on June 9.

Gold Coast and Logan

A 35-year-old Varsity Lakes man was charged with nine offences including four counts of drug trafficking (cocaine, methylamphetamine, MDMA and cannabis), three counts of arson and one count of supplying a firearm. The man was alleged to have supplied the Mackay based syndicate with multiple kilogram quantities of methylamphetamine. He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on June 19.

A 32-year-old Varsity Lakes man was charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs (exceed schedule) (methylamphetamine and cocaine) and one count each of possessing Category M weapon, possessing drug utensils, possessing proceeds of an offence under DMA, possessing things used in commission of a crime and contravene access order. He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on June 9.

A 32-year-old Varsity Lakes man was charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs (cocaine, cannabis and MDMA). He was given a drug diversion.

A 33-year-old Logan man was charged with four counts of supplying dangerous drugs. He was due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 5.
