Woman taken to Gympie Hospital after lightning strike at Amamoor

A Mary Valley resident has had a close call at her home as severe storms rolled across the region.

It understood the bolt came from a storm passing over Amamoor which struck nearby her house about 4.30pm.

She was taken to Gympie Hospital in a stable condition.

A QAS spokesman said this was a “precautionary” measure.

It was the second lightning-related call-out for first responders across the state, coming less than two hours after two women were injured when their house near Kilcoy was struck.
