It is believed he had stopped to help Ms Satterley, Mr Rolfe’s girlfriend, before the crash.

In a statement released by police, his family said the retired 65-year-old was also a former long-term resident of Northgate near Brisbane.

“Terry was travelling to Brisbane on Friday to attend a family member’s wedding the day following the incident,” they said.

“He leaves behind a wife, daughter, son and five young grandchildren who all loved him dearly.

“Our hearts go out to the other victims’ families and the first responders in this horrific tragedy.”

Police have alleged the stolen Isuzu MU-X Mr Rolfe was driving had been chasing Mr Bishop and Ms Satterley up the highway at the time of the crash, trying to ram them off the road.

It is believed their vehicle crossed into the southbound lanes during this alleged chase and collided with the Great Wall utility being driven by Ms Townley.

On Monday afternoon, Mr Bishop’s family identified him as the third victim of the crash.

They released his name as part of a call for any witnesses to come forward.

Mr Rolfe has been charged with single counts of robbery while armed, dangerous operations of a car, stealing, evading police, and driving without a licence disqualified by court order as a repeat offender.

No charges have yet been laid over the July 21 crash.
