A young mother who died in a tragic crash south of Gympie has been remembered as a fighter.

Gypsy Satterley, 25, died after a crash on the Bruce Highway at Federal early Friday morning. The crash also claimed the life of 38-year-old Jessica Townley and a 65-year-old man.

Rafferty Rolfe, 25, was the sole survivor of the fatal crash, which involved three vehicles. He has since been charged with stealing at knifepoint the vehicle he was in at the time of the crash. It’s believed Ms Satterley was at some point in that vehicle before the crash. She was later picked up from the side of the Bruce Highway by a good Samaritan - the 65-year-old who also died in the crash.

On Sunday a GoFundMe was created by Ms Satterley’s sister Sunshine Satterley to help fund her final farewell and to support her two daughters.

“Life hadn’t been kind to her, in so many ways, it threw roadblocks and made every move forwards, hard,” the GoFundMe said.

“But she still showed up every damn day and fought a battle of fighting for a better life, knowing she could nearly touch it finally, smiling, laughing and loving her way through all the set backs.”

The GoFundMe said it was about giving Ms Satterley the goodbye she truly deserved.

“So we can share, grieve and remember who we will now forever miss, but always hold close to us,” it said.

Jessica Townley also died in the crash.

“It’s about awareness, honesty, justice and giving Gypsy something she deserved, a celebration of her life and everyone that got to see her beauty and feel her magic.

“Being able to help set her beautiful daughters up for a future without their mother, just like Gypsy would want.”

Rolfe had been in hospital days before the crash. Queensland Health will review a decision to release him despite pleas from his mother to keep him there.

Following the crash, Rolfe was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital where he remained on Sunday in a stable condition under police guard.
