Police are calling for public help in their investigations into an alleged serious bashing of a young man by a roadside near Gympie only days after Christmas.

Police are seeking public help as investigations continue into an alleged assault by “cowboys” two days after Christmas which left a young man seriously injured.
The alleged attack happened between 11.30pm and 11.45pm on the roadside of Green Valley Dr, Rainbow Beach, on the night of Saturday, December 28, police said in a statement on Tuesday.
Police said the victim, a 22-year-old Tin Can Bay man, first saw his alleged attackers - wearing “country” or “cowboy” themed clothing including wide-brimmed cowboy hats and trucker caps - at a licenced premises in the tourist town before the alleged assault occurred.
They have asked anyone with footage or information to come forward.
