Driver, 19, dead after car crashes into tree at Gunalda
A young driver has been confirmed dead following a crash into a tree between Gympie and Maryborough.

A young Cooloola Cove driver has died after a crash at Gunalda, between Gympie and Maryborough, early Saturday.
Emergency Services went to the crash site in the early hours of Saturday but the 19-year-old driver was confirmed dead at the scene.
Confronting photos show the wreckage of a white vehicle wrapped around of the base of the tree which was stripped of its bark in the retrieval process and a P-plate left behind.
“Initial investigations indicate around 3:20am, a white Mitsubishi 380 was travelling along Neerdie Rd before it left the roadway and struck a tree,” a Queensland Police spokesman said.
“The driver and single occupant of the vehicle … was declared deceased at the scene.”
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating police are calling on anyone who may have witnessed the vehicle or may have relevant dashcam/CCTV to come forward.
The crash comes after another road tragedy in the same region was confirmed late Friday.
According to police, a missing motorcyclist was found dead near his wrecked BMW bike at Bauple, near Tiaro (also between Gympie and Maryborough).
It’s understood the rider had been travelling north to Bundaberg on Wednesday night but never reached his destination, sparking a days-long search.
Another motorcyclist from the Wide Bay was also killed in a crash last Saturday at Takura on the Fraser Coast.
