The wrath of the recent Covid lockdown is being felt by the Mary Valley Show Society, who made the announcement on social media yesterday that this year’s show and rodeo would not be going ahead.

The event was set to kick off on August 21, but due to “risks escalating daily” the decision was made to cancel the show altogether.

“Our Covid-19 plan is in place, however … we need to ensure the safety and wellbeing of everyone,” the Show Society said in an announcement on Facebook.

“We will focus on our 2022 show, showcasing our rural pursuits and interests and trust that you will once again support the best little country show.”

Residents expressed their disappointment over the cancellation, with one saying they were “devastated” to hear the news.

“So sad. See you next year,” Cate Wibaux said on Facebook.
