It was all hands on deck as the Domino’s store in Gympie underwent a major renovation to increase the kitchen size and keep up with the high volume of delivery orders.

The store closed its doors to customers for 11 days in late July, while a team of builders and some staff members worked tirelessly to get the job done and the store reopened as soon as possible.

The renovated store reopened for business on Friday, July 30, revealing its “fresh new look”.

Domino’s Gympie manager Brad McCartin said the business had tripled its deliveries over the years, so the improvements to the working space would allow the store to keep up with demand.

“The renovation will improve the store by having better flow in the kitchen,” Mr McCartin said.

“We’ve taken a little bit of room away from our customers to improve our efficiency for our team members.

“There's not going to be any more crowded spaces and people working over the top of each other, which means we should be able to get pizzas to the door faster and make people happy.”

Mr McCartin said Domino’s required their stores to undergo refurbishments every eight years so the Gympie store was due for a makeover.

“We get to decide what we do with it so we decided to spend the money and make it happen and go all out,” he said.

Mr McCartin said the feedback from customers had been positive, with many pizza-lovers complimenting the changes when they walk in.

“People who know the store beforehand know there would be 15 people packed into a tiny little area so now we’ve opened up a whole other avenue for people to walk through and spread out those working areas,” he said.

“We are more spread out rather than all bunched up in one area.”
