The transformation of the gateway to the Mary Valley into a tourism and getaway hub is underway, with new plans unveiled to open a boutique hinterland wedding venue and holiday park at Traveston, east of Noosa and south of Gympie.
Landowners Jy and Tania Paxton lodged development plans with the Gympie Regional Council amid efforts to open the venue on the largely vacant Tandur Traveston Rd block, previously used for grazing cattle.
The 10.9ha block is on the other side of a railway line adjacent to the Dingo Creek Vineyard, and 1.5km south of the Cobb and Co Campground.
The plans include the main weatherboard, pitch-gabled “barn” facility, and four cabins.
Concept plans for the venue include a pool area.
The cabins would be for “short term holiday(s)”, the application says.
Three of the cabins will be one-bedroom in size.

Demand for the venue was expected to come from the Gympie, Sunshine Coast, and Brisbane areas, the application says.
The venue would have a maximum capacity of 80 guests, and host events once a week.
Weddings were to start by 1pm and finish by 10.30pm, the application says.
A gravel driveway will connect the venue to Tandur Traveston Rd.
Ten parking spaces will be provided onsite, with overflow areas available when needed.
The plans for this venue come four months after another boutique wedding venue was proposed to be built at Coles Creek.
The Coles Creek application is still under consideration by the council.
