Emergency crews were called to a gas leak in West Gladstone on Tuesday afternoon.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were called to the incident on Scenery St about 3.30pm.
A spokeswoman for QFES said it was believed a natural gas line had been ruptured and a plumber was required to “crimp” the line.
It is understood an exclusion zone of about 50 or 60m was put in place for vehicles, however residents were still able to leave and return to their homes.
No homes were evacuated.
A spokeswoman for Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said fireys conducted atmospheric testing and vapour suppression when on site.
She said crews continued to monitor vapour suppression while the plumbing contractor worked on site to stop the leak.
The site was deemed safe about 4.30pm.
Paramedics and police were also on standby to assist.
