A man threatened to smash a woman’s teeth in and kill police officers.
The man, 37, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty on July 2 in Gladstone Magistrates Court to four contraventions of domestic violence orders (aggravated offences).
Police prosecutor Merrilyn Hoskins said the worst of which occurred in May this year.
A domestic violence protection order was made in the Townsville Magistrates Court which stated the defendant must be of good behaviour to the victim and not commit any further DV offences.
The court heard the defendant, on May 17, around 8.30pm, told victim he was, “Going to smash your teeth in so the police come and I will fight until I kill the police and that they kill me so its all over and I’m dead. I’m not going back to jail. I will do this because I am a Jihadi.”
The defendant denied making the threat.
Further, the defendant ran headfirst at a timber fence in the victim’s backyard which caused the timber palings to break on May 20 around 5.30pm.
The victim stated this caused injury to the defendant’s arm that he went to hospital for treatment.
The victim was in the backyard when the incident occurred and stated it made her really scared.
Ms Hoskins said the defendant was not a youthful offender and had multiple domestic violence offences in his history, including 11 in New South Wales.
Magistrate Bevan Manthey sentenced the defendant to 15 months imprisonment with an immediate parole release date and convictions recorded.
