A Gladstone man who smashed the window of his brother’s car in an act of rage claimed he was being harassed.
Joshua Joseph Robinson pleaded guilty on July 2 in Gladstone Magistrates Court to wilful damage.
Police prosecutor Merrilyn Hoskins said Robinson asked for $100 the victim owed him, however, the victim declined, on March 21, between 10am and 1pm.
She said Robinson responded by throwing a rock through the front passenger window of the victim’s car, a grey Mazda 6.
The car was parked at Robinson’s driveway on Wilson St, New Auckland at the time.
Ms Hoskins said Robinson sent messages to his mother about damaging the car prior to damaging it then sent another one shortly after having damaged the vehicle.
She said police attended Robinson’s address on 25 March about 7.20am and questioned him regarding the incident.
Ms Hoskins said Robinson made admissions to damaging his brother’s car stating he was sick of him harassing him and his partner over the phone regarding his property.
She said Robinson denied causing any other damage initially alleged, stating the panel damage to the car was already there, which was confirmed by police.
Magistrate Bevan Manthey fined him $300 with no conviction recorded.
