A woman who stole hundreds of dollars worth of goods from Kmart sneakily paid for some items while walking out with heaps of others, a court has heard.

A woman who stole hundreds of dollars worth of goods from Kmart sneakily paid for some items while walking out with hundreds of dollars worth of others, a court has heard.
Kimberly Jayne Philippi, 29, stole $399 worth of items from Kin Kora Kmart in December 2021, the Gladstone Magistrates Court heard.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Carl Spargo said Philippi was spotted in the sporting aisle and walked out without attempting to pay on December 8.
Constable Spargo also said she walked out with a trolley full of items, only paying for a few of them on December 21.
The court heard the total value of the stolen items was $399, however the goods were recovered and restitution wasn’t sought.
When police caught up with her, she denied taking the property but was then shown the CCTV footage of her offences.
Philippi failed to show up to the police station to give her name, age and address on December 28, leading to an additional charge.
She pleaded guilty to two counts of stealing and one count of contravening direction or requirement of police.
Defence solicitor Rio Ramos said the single mother of one instructed that she was affected by methamphetamine at the time, however doesn’t use the drug anymore.
Ms Ramos said Philippi ‘has insight’ about her offending and a fine was still in range for sentencing.
Acting magistrate John Milburn said there was a persistence in her offending behaviour.
Mr Milburn fined Philippi $700.
The court having heard that she wanted to pursue education and training in the future; convictions were not recorded.
