A man who fell while reportedly being towed behind a car in shallow water was airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital from K’gari on Tuesday afternoon with a dislocated shoulder.

The Bundaberg-based LifeFlight aeromedical crew airlifted the man aged in his 30s late in the afternoon, after he reportedly fell while being towed behind a car in shallow water. The chopper landed on the Sandy Cape Conservation Park helipad on the north tip of the island about 5:30pm.

A LifeFlight critical care doctor and QAS flight paramedics treated the man, who was a tourist on the island, before he was flown to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition.
