Images have been released of a witness police believe may be able to help with investigations into a brutal assault in a supermarket men’s toilet on the Fraser Coast.

Initial investigations indicate about 4.15pm on January 15, 2024, a 56-year-old man was inside the men’s toilet at a Hunter Street shopping centre complex when he was approached by a man, not known to him, and repeatedly struck in the face and body.

Upon arrival, emergency services located the 56-year-old with serious injuries.

He was taken to Hervey Bay Hospital for treatment.

The other man left the scene on foot before police arrived.

Investigators said the man pictured was considered to be a possible witness and do not believe he is connected to the assault.

Police are appealing to any witnesses to come forward and anyone with information or relevant vision is also urged to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
