A brothel owner was allegedly kicked, punched and stomped on by a group of teens armed with a baseball bat and machete – with police now on the hunt for those involved.
Police allege a group of five teens carried out a terrifying crime spree in southwest Sydney on Thursday night, allegedly stealing cash and phones from the terrified occupants of a home, before robbing a brothel.
Police were called to Judith St in Chester Hill shortly before 7pm, after the gang allegedly kicked in the door of a home, forced the occupants onto the ground and stole “numerous items” including mobile phones.
Speaking to the Telegraph, two men who lived there said they had just eaten dinner when the door flew open and the alleged attackers started screaming.
“We are okay, it was very scary but we are okay,” one of the men said.”
“We don’t know why they came for us.”
After allegedly robbing the men, police allege the group travelled to Villawood 27 Brothel on Christina Rd in a blue Holden Barina hatchback.
Shock CCTV allegedly shows the men rush into the brothel wielding the bat and machete, before grabbing the 62-year-old owner, kicking and punching and stomping on his head.
It’s alleged they took off with a “large sum” of cash, leaving the bleeding man on the floor.
He was hospitalised for facial injuries - however is understood to be “doing fine”.
Less than an hour later, police spotted the gang in Fairfield East. A short foot pursuit was initiated – but police were only able to capture one of the men – 19-year-old Abdullah Zahab, charging him with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence-people there, and robbery in company. He faced court on Friday and was refused bail by a magistrate.
Shortly after his arrest, police spotted the blue Barina gain, chasing down two of the men as they jumped fences and ran through yards along Malta St.
One of the men is alleged to have swung the machete at police – causing him to get away.
However, police were able to arrest a 16-year-old boy, charging him with goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen (not motor vehicle), recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, receiving, and possess prohibited drug.
On Friday, police continued their hunt for the other three men believed to be involved, with Bankstown Police Acting Commander Darren Sly labelling their behaviour “cowardly”.
“My message to the three outstanding offenders is to hand yourself in before the police come knocking,” he said.
“Their actions are clearly cowardly”.
