A learner truck driver will face court after he was allegedly caught driving unsupervised while three times over the legal blood alcohol limit.

An unsupervised learner truck driver has been charged with high range drink driving after allegedly being caught behind the wheel while three times over the legal blood alcohol limit.

About 10.30pm on July 5, police were conducting patrols in Maryborough when they intercepted a white Hino truck on John Street for a roadside breath test.

The driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old Pacific Haven man, allegedly provided a positive roadside breath test and as a result he was transported to the Maryborough Police Station where he underwent further testing.

Police will allege the driver registered a reading more than three times the legal limit - 0.179 per cent.

He was charged with high range drink driving and is scheduled to appear in the Maryborough Magistrates Court on July 29.

The Pacific Haven man also received an infringement for not being under the direction of an authorised supervisor and was fined $258 and four demerit points.

He also received an infringement for not displaying L plates and received a fine for $258 and two demerit points.
