A driver has allegedly been caught high range drink driving by police on the Fraser Coast.

A 41-year-old Toogoom man has been charged with drink driving after allegedly being caught three times over the legal limit.

Officers from the Maryborough Highway Patrol were at a static roadside breath testing site on Gympie Street, Torbanlea, when they intercepted a silver Nissan Navara.

Police will allege the driver returned a positive roadside breath test and was taken to the Hervey Bay Police Station where he underwent further testing.

The man allegedly registered more than three times the legal limit with a reading of 0.151.

He was charged with high range drink driving and is scheduled to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on November 27.
