Police target 'risky behaviour' on roads this holiday season

Twenty traffic infringement notices were issued in just 24 hours across the Fraser Coast for a range of different driving offences.

Seven were for speeding 13-20km over the limit, five for speeding 20-30km over the limit, and one for speeding 30-40km over the limit.

Two were for driving without due care and attention, and one each for an expired licence, defective vehicle, failing to keep left on double continuous lines, and smoking in a vehicle with children under the age of 16.

Three separate traffic infringement notices were issued to one driver – a learner driver failing to display L plates, carry a learner’s licence, and have correct licensed driver (not under correct direction).

The drivers were intercepted at various times and locations throughout the Fraser Coast, including the Bruce Highway at Gunalda, Tiaro, Owyanvilla, Howard and Duckinwilla, Cooloola Coast Road at Boonooroo, Maryborough-Hervey Bay Road at Urraween and Burrum Town, and Pialba-Burrum Heads Road at Craignish.
