Police were forced to deploy capsicum spray on two young Dalby women after they became involved in a fight over a boy, a court has heard.
Shontai Heidi Maree Hinch’s brawl of jealousy was retold in Dalby Magistrates Court on April 27, where she was charged with public nuisance.
The court heard the physical altercation took place about 1am on March 6 in the vicinity of Drayton Street and Flinders Street.
The 20-year-old’s victim was eating food at the time, and heard the defendant yelling behind her, before Hinch was pushed towards her, said police prosecutor sergeant Derek Brady.
A physical exchange ensued moments later, where Hinch was seen to grab the victim’s hair, and held it down towards the ground while she uppercutted her victim, the court heard.
The victim then attempted to defend herself, with the fight eventually broken up by police after they deployed capsicum spray on all parties.
Defence solicitor Michael McElhinney said it had been a consensual fight involving “jealousy” over someone’s partner.
Magistrate Tracy Mossop told Hinch her fight over a “boy” was “not appropriate”, and said people die from that sort of behaviour.
Hinch pleaded guilty and was fined $800, with no conviction recorded.
