Dalby police have charged a 24-year-old man with theft after close to $500,000 of allegedly stolen property was discovered in a raid of Western Downs property.
Police executed a search warrant at a Moonie Highway address in Ducklo where a large quantity of items were found.
Among the allegedly stolen goods police say they discovered were cars, motorbikes, three caravans, trailers, lawnmowers, solar panels and an array of power tools.
The goods were alleged to have been stolen from both Western Downs homes and businesses and police said the man charged was known to them.
Police say the discovery was one of the biggest hauls of allegedly stolen goods the Western Downs had ever seen.
Detective Chief Inspector Garry Watts said the 24-year-old man was arrested in Toowoomba on Monday and was charged with ten offences including seven charges of enter premises, and one charge each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, assault and steal vehicle.
“(Monday) police executed a search warrant at a Ducklo residence and found a vast amount of (alleged) stolen property,” he said.
“The Dalby CIB has been conducting investigations into a series of break and entries that have occurred in the Western Downs patrol group over recent weeks and acting on information we executed the search warrant.”
Inspector Watts said they would be now looking at returning the alleged stolen goods to their rightful owners.
“We have to itemise all of the property at the moment, some we have been able to identify and confirmed it has come from some break and enterings but there is an amount of property outstanding we have to identify where it came from,” he said.
“We will be looking through our records to try to link the property and we will be reaching out to the people.”
The man faced Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday where he was remnaded in custody to appear in Dalby Magistrates Court on February 12.
