Western Downs police have warned residents living in the region to ensure their homes and belongings are locked away due to a recent increase in thefts.

Queensland Police Service issued the warning on Wednesday which reported Dalby, Bell and Jandowae have specifically seen a spike in items and vehicles being stolen from properties in recent days.

A vehicle that was taken from a rural property on the Bunya Highway on Sunday and another that was stolen from Coxen St in Jandowae on Monday are among the recent thefts.

Both vehicles have since been located by police.

Additionally, police have reported that on Monday a beige/champagne coloured 2002 Toyota Camry sedan was stolen from a property on High St in Jandowae,

The car was described as having a nudge bar and spotlights with the registration 569SZO however police have reason to believe the car may have false plates or no plates at all now, with police suspecting a man and a woman to be involved.

Police said the man is described as being Caucasian, proportionate build with light brown hair and the woman is described as having olive skin, dyed blonde hair and a large build.

Authorities are reminding residents to ensure all valuables are locked away and vehicle keys are not left in the car or close by it.

If residents have CCTV, they should ensure it’s working and the lenses are clean and for those without CCTV this should be a reminder that it can be a great deterrent and provides investigators another tool to locate the potential suspects.

Other security measures such as security lights and padlocks should also be considered.

Police warn residents if they sight the stolen vehicle to not approach the suspects involved and phone triple-0 or 131 444.
