Fighting to stay clean from meth after the tragic death of a school friend, a Dalby man’s staggering offending has been laid bare after he pleaded guilty to 35 charges.
Beau David Wedrat, 22 appeared in Dalby Magistrates Court pleading guilty to 35 offences including but not limited to, assault, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing drug items, multiple possessions of a knife, possession of a knuckle duster and wilful damage.
The court was told on one occasion police were called to a Dalby address after Wedrat who was living with his sister after he punched her in the cheek with police finding her scared and crying with a swollen face.
Wedrat had also spray painted her bike on the back deck.
Magistrate Kathleen Payne also mentioned Wedrat was found in possession of a knuckle duster, obstructing police after he ran away from them, possessing someone's MasterCard, being caught with knives on him on multiple occasions including a machete, being found with someone's stolen bike and being caught possessing methamphetamine and needles.
He was also charged with 14 breaches of bail.
Wedrat’s lawyer said his client had fallen into drug addiction at 17 after the passing of his school friend and had been fighting to stay clean ever since.
Ms Payne agreed and said “the offending is prolific and consistent of someone addicted to meth”.
Despite the extensive charge sheet Ms Payne acknowledged Wedrat’s criminal history was quite limited.
He was placed on an 18-month probation and Ms Payne said due to his young age she would not record a conviction to give him a chance to rehabilitate
