Two people have faced Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday and were sentenced for possession of methamphetamine.
Da-EL Eldine Duncan, 40, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, possession of a pipe and possession of clip sealed bags.
The court was told on January 17, 2025, about 4.51pm police conducted a search of Duncan’s home and discovered five glass pipes, 0.2g of methamphetamine and a clip sealed bag suspected of being used for drugs.
Magistrate Kathleen Payne said Duncan had an “appalling drug history” but noted he hadn’t been before court for drug offences in some time.
“I can’t say you’re reformed but you haven’t been caught in the last three years”.
Duncan was sentenced to 50 hours of community service, subject to a drug rehabilitation order and a conviction was recorded.
Meanwhile Madison Amber Harding, 56, pleaded guilty to possession of methamphetamine, possession of a pipe and possession of a scale following an incident on October 1, 2024.
The items and a clip seal bag containing half a point of meth were discovered after a search of Harding’s home being located in a cabinet of a caravan.
Harding’s lawyer told the court his client had been co-operative with police and made admissions to the drugs. He also said his client had been clean prior to being caught with the drugs and was unaware they were in the cupboard.
He said police had noted the dust on the pipes indicating they hadn’t been used for some time.
Harding’s lawyer said his client had been experimenting with drugs from a young age, but had fallen into serious drug addiction following the break-up of a relationship.
Despite this he said she had been making steps to stay clean including getting her 19-year-old son to regularly drug test her.
For the offences she was placed on a 12 month probation order and a conviction was recorded.
