Inside Dalby Police Stations major upgrades and renovation, construction begins

Dalby Police Station is about to undergo a massive eight month renovation and upgrade for the first time in more than 30 years.

Dalby and the Western Downs will soon be home to a state of the art policing facility following a massive $11.5 million upgrade to the current station.

Policing will be done out of a temporary station during the approximate eight month construction process.

Announced in January 2022, the renovation and upgrades are expected to commence on January 18 and include a complete gutting and remodelling of the building and the construction of a brand-new attached building.

The redevelopment is a part of a $300 million police infrastructure upgrade to modernise policing in the region and across the state.

Dalby Police Senior Sergeant Terry McCullough said the construction is expected to be completed in October 2023, and will upgrade the station which hasn’t been upgraded since 1986.

“We’re getting a new watchhouse that will be more modern and more fit for purpose, which will give us a lot more room to expand, we’re a bit cramped at the moment,” Senior Sergeant McCullough said.

“It’s been a long time coming, but the government has supported it and we’re finally moving ahead, the temporary building is already fitted out.”

During construction on the current station, you can find Dalby Police at their new (temporary) home at 112-114 Drayton Street.

The redevelopment is expected to support up to 38 full-time jobs during construction.
