Dalby Police Station is prepped to undergo a multimillion-dollar transformation as part of the state’s $300 million police service infrastructure pipeline.

Police Minister Mark Ryan said detailed planning was well underway for the redevelopment of the station, with construction on track to begin this financial year, and expected to be completed in the 2023-24 financial year.

“Once complete, the multimillion-dollar redevelopment will provide a modern facility for police personnel, which will strengthen police capability within the region,” Mr Ryan said.

“The new facilities will support what is the biggest investment in police personnel in thirty years, an investment that will deliver an extra 2025 police personnel across Queensland.

Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll previously said an extra 150 police officers to each policing region across Queensland as part of the statewide investment.

“With that level of investment in personnel, it’s important that we also invest in the infrastructure our world-class police service needs to keep the community safe,” Minister Ryan said.

Superintendent Garrath Channells said Dalby Police Station will be completely refurbished with a new building to be constructed beside the current station and linked together.

“These state-of-the-art refurbishments will include the development of a major incident room, training rooms and upgrades to the watch house,” he said.

“Additional space will also be developed in order to support current staffing needs, housing police personnel and frontline support staff.

“Key features of the redeveloped facility include accommodation for general duties, road policing, criminal investigation and child protection investigation units, intelligence, scenes of crime, prosecutions, district support functions and administration, as well as an extension to the watchhouse, staff amenities, conference and major incident rooms.

“This facility will deliver a contemporary, professional and healthy workplace for all members to work in.”

Queensland Police Union President Ian Leavers said ensuring police have modern facilities is critical and something for which the QPU has advocated.

The redevelopment is expected to support up to 38 full-time jobs during construction.
