Dalby’s PCYC will host their second annual Open Day promoting the good work the centre does for the community.

Kicking off at 9am this Saturday the Open Day will feature a series of fun events showcasing the Dalby PCYC’s offerings.

Club co-ordinator Claire Gordon said this was the second year they had hosted the Open Day.

“We did our first one last year, it is a statewide open day (and) every PCYC across Queensland will put one on showing what they have to offer,” she said

“It started last year as a celebration of our 75th anniversary and it was successful so PCYC decided to keep doing it.”

Ms Gordon said there was something for everyone at the event.

“We are doing trials of our Play Time class, our Little and Active class and gymnastics all in our gymnastics hall,” she said.

“We are also launching a new group training class in our gym called Activate, we’ve got laser skirmish, we’ve got pickleball, we’ve got free facing painting and a jumping castle.

“Our programs team is putting on a beer goggles challenge where guests can put on some beer goggles and navigate around an obstacle course, we also have a driving simulator and a free sausage sizzle.”

Ms Gordon encouraged people to come along and check out what the PCYC had to offer.

“We’ve got so much on offer at the PCYC, we have our 24-hour gym, then we have gymnastics, we got a brilliant upgrade to our gymnastics hall last year that helped us grow the program and we have some amazing coaches in there.

“We also have boxing where we have a great passionate coach and we have some boxers that compete at a really high level.”

Ms Gordon said first and foremost the PCYC was about giving back to the community.

“It is really important that people know that the profit we make through our commercial aspects such as out gym and gymnastics we use to give back to the community through our free programs such as our Drop in Basketball, our Youth Management Team and our Boxing after Dark,” she said.

“The money we make we funnel it back into disadvantaged youth in our community.

“Our mission is to give back to the community, we are profit for purpose it is all about giving back to the community.”
