Bowenville's Saturday night boogie

Whether you are a professional dancer or have two left feet, Bowenville are welcoming all dancers to their Old Time, New Vogue dance this Saturday night

BOWENVILLE has embraced the best of both worlds with its traditional Old Time New Vogue dance, held once a month in the Bowenville Memorial Hall.

The dance welcomes people of all ages and dancing abilities to join in for a dance, a meal, and a fun night out the old- fashioned way.

Event coordinator, Narelle, has been attending old time dances with her husband since before they were married, and wanted to share the experience with her fellow Bowenville community members.

"We decided as a committee to have the dances every month, so some people have somewhere to go,” Narelle said.

"There are a lot of dance people out there and they'd like somewhere to go on a Saturday night. They enjoy doing all the different dances and they get together with friends.”

Narelle has been organising the event for some time now, and loves seeing how much joy it brings all the dancers and attendees.

"We organise it all, and get all the food for it, and we decorate the hall as well,” Narelle said.

"Putting it on for the community, I get a lot of pleasure out of it.”

The live music is always a highlight of the night. This Saturday, Mark's Music will be gracing the stage.

Another highlight of the dance is the tasty supper everyone receives after a long night of dancing with their friends.

The sandwiches are famous at the Memorial Hall for their unique fillings.

Sandwich fillings include egg and lettuce, cheese and carrot, mince, ham and tomato, and corn and relish.

Bowenville also hosted a New Year's Eve party on Monday night for everyone who wanted to shimmy in the new year.

Attendees were given the chance to enter a lucky door and raffle, with 2019 calendars up for grabs for the lucky winners.

Bowenville followed the usual tradition of live music on New Year's Eve night, with Mystique and Carmel providing the tunes for the evening.

Dancers and participants were given streamers, horns, and whistles for the countdown into 2019.

Banners covered the walls of the Memorial Hall as dancers welcomed in the new year.

To start the new year the best way possible, dancers were showered with lollies that fell from the roof on the stroke of midnight, much to the excitement of everyone on the dance floor.

As a devoted Bowenville community member, Narelle has now devoted her time to organising dances for the new generation. But she always saves time for a dance herself.

Admission is $10, and it goes from 8pm until late.
