The extraordinary moment a driver rammed his car into two vehicles stopped at a Bundaberg traffic light has been caught on camera by the nearby occupants of another car.
Footage of the road rage incident emerged on social media this week, with one Instagram clip drawing more than 25,000 views.
The 45-second clip shows a red Kia, stopped in the left-hand turning lane at the intersection of Bourbong and Branyan Sts, trying to merge back into the lane to its immediate right.
A Nissan 4WD and a Suzuki are already stopped at the red traffic light, with less than a metre between them.
Nevertheless the driver of the Kia tries to nose his car back into the tiny gap at the same time as the Suzuki shifts forward about 10cm.
The Suzuki’s driver then further closes the gap between their car and the 4WD in an apparent attempt to dissuade the Kia driver from crossing into the lane ahead of them.
The Kia’s shirtless driver then throws open the car door and tries to get out, but is forced to leap back inside when his car continues to roll forward.
He directs a further comment out his window to the driver of the Suzuki, then reverses the Kia about a metre before accelerating into the two vehicles shortly before the traffic lights turn green.
The Kia driver then reverses his damaged car a second time and appears to accelerate towards the Suzuki a second time when the video cuts out.
The footage was met with shock and disbelief on Instagram.
One called it “hella unnecessary” while another asked “why can’t people just let you in?”
Another said the driver was lost, so “let em in and avoid the whole thing”.
It is the second shocking Wide Bay crash footage to circulate across social media this month following the emergence of a video of a cement truck crash on a Bruce Hwy overpass at Gympie at the end of September.
