Two men killed, woman fighting for life after crash near Bundaberg

Two men have been killed and a woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a serious crash at an intersection near Bundaberg. LATEST.

Two men have been killed and a woman is in hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash near Bundaberg on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency calls came in for the two-vehicle crash at the Gin Gin Rd and Lines Rd intersection at South Kolan at 2.44pm on Saturday.

A Bullyard man and Bundaberg Park Village man were killed in the crash, with forensic police investigating.

It’s believed a silver Holden Commodore was travelling on Gin Gin Rd when it collided with a grey Chrylser 300c at the intersection.

The driver of the Chrysler, a 78-year-old Bullyard man, and the driver of the Holden Commodore, a 55-year-old Bundaberg Park Village man, both died at the scene.

The passenger of the Chrysler, a 75-year-old Bullyard woman, was taken to Bundaberg Base Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said crews on scene used rescue equipment as paramedics treated a person in one of the vehicles.

This person was removed from the vehicle at 3.45pm.

A rescue chopper was also called to the scene.

However, a LifeFlight spokeswoman said an aeromedical team was diverted to the crash just after 3pm.

The road was closed for several hours.

Police are calling for anyone with information, witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage, to come forward.

Investigations continue.
