Woman injured in Bruce Highway crash at Eureka

A woman was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries following a Bruce Highway crash after swerving to avoid a large kangaroo.

Emergency crews were called about 11.34am after another motorist came across the crash at Eureka.

A woman was taken to hospital following a highway crash after swerving to avoid a kangaroo.

Emergency crews were called about 11.34am after another motorist came across the crash at Eureka.

The woman had been travelling on the Bruce Highway, north of Apple Tree Creek, when a large kangaroo jumped out in front of the vehicle.

She swerved to avoid the animal and a crash occurred resulting in extensive damage to the front of the vehicle.

Another driver has then come across the collision.

The woman was taken to Bundaberg hospital with potentially serious head injuries.

It is understood she had already been out of the vehicle when emergency crews arrived.

The damaged vehicle had to be towed and the southbound lane of the highway was blocked for a short time.

She was taken to Bundaberg Hospital.
