Firefighters battled a large blaze at Smith Crossing Rd in Bucca, near Bundaberg on Sunday with the fire reportedly covering five acres.

A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman reported that it took seven fire crews to contain the large fire, with the first arriving at 12.15pm following a call received shortly before midday.

She said crews reported a “large amount of smoke on arrival”.

“It was five acres of grass and that was burnt as well as some hay bales.

“It’s all out and under control now as of 1pm,” the spokeswoman said.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman confirmed their presence at the scene but stated that there were “no patients” reported.
