AGE is no barrier for one of the region’s youngest entrepreneurs, who is baking all her dreams come true, one cupcake at a time.

Following in the footsteps of her mum and grandmother, 12-year-old Katherine Preston she has been helping in the kitchen for as long as she can remember and has now started her own business Kat’s Creations.

Selling cupcakes, cakes, brownies and cookies, the young baker sells her products at the Cabarlah markets and also accepts custom orders.

And while it’s taken time for Katherine to perfect her technique, she can now master the chocolate shard process.

Her creations have also evolved since starting her business to include intricate designs including dog, ninja and World Teacher Day themes.

“I like baking because it’s really fun, and you get to be creative with how you do the icing and decorate the cupcakes,” she said.

“One day it would be cool to have my own shop, and for the business to grow, but I also want to teach food tech and art.”

Her long-term passion for baking flourished when she was living in Wales and won a competition at the age of four.
