Employment and Small Business Minister Di Farmer congratulated Hammy in a post on social media.

“Of the over 1500 small business owners I met on our 17-stop small business roadshow this year, Hamish of Hammy’s Cupcakes was by far the youngest,” the post said.

“He is 10-years-old and he started his business when he was eight … he got special permission to have the morning off school when our roadshow came to Toowoomba.

“Our whole team was over the moon to meet him and we love following his progress so when he posted that he’s a finalist in the 2021 Australian Small Business Champion Awards we all cheered – congratulations to this wonderful small business entrepreneur.”

Winners will be announced at the national awards night at The Star in Sydney on July 31.
