Music lovers were treated to a variety of incredible sounds at the weekend, from indy and soul, to Aussie Rock when the Toowoomba Busking Festival returned to town.
More than 30 talented musicians travelled from across the Southern Queensland area to take part in the annual competition, with buskers playing at various venues across the CBD.
Among the live music performances were River Movement, Jason Daniels, Palinola, 9 Year Sister, Alexander Bryant, Mercury Sun, The 78 Sound, Pepper Jane and STO/NES.
The top five buskers were selected by the judging panel, before battling it out on the main stage on Saturday night, in a bid to win the grand prize.
Skillz FJ was crowned this year’s winner, walking away with an $1000 prize, while A Mate’s Banjo received the People’s Choice Award.
“The importance of supporting these artists is that they have been willing to do their gigs for no payment other than joining with the greater festival vision,” Toowoomba Busking Festival co-ordinator Samuel Herman said.
“The heart behind this initiative is to simply bless the city of Toowoomba and to bring the gift of life and joy back to lovely city we all call home and businesses after a harsh Covid session.”
The Toowoomba Busking Festival is run by Youth With A Mission Toowoomba.
