A sold-out crowd has shown its support for women’s support centre Protea Place, in a fundraising event to help vulnerable women in Toowoomba.
Janelle Cartwright who works at Downlands College, said with the support of the school’s community, she organised the fundraiser with her sister Leigh Lucht and friend Katie Wright.
“The purpose of the event was to share the services Protea Place provides in our community to garner support, raise funds and to support vulnerable women in our community,” Ms Cartwright said.
“It was a night for women to share stories and laughter, and at the same time, raise valuable funds for a very worthy cause.”
The sold-out event which was held at The Royal Hotel’s The Shed, welcomed 100 attendees to the fundraiser last Friday night.
Ms Cartwright thanked the community for their support, as well as the individuals and businesses who donated prizes for multiple raffles.
Two silent auctions also took place, with the lucky winners walking away with an original artwork by Toowoomba artist Anna Battle and handmade quilt by Patrina Jahnke.
The event was sponsored by Wilson’s Towing.
