BIG GIG: Headlining acts announced for popular festival

The three day event will see 18 acts take to the local stage this year with some big names in music headlining.

TOOWOOMBA has plenty of reason to sing after the music line-up for a popular festival was announced.

In just three short months, the region’s Queens Park will be echoing with the sounds of music for the Festival of Food and Wine.

The three-day event which forms part of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, will see 18 acts take to the stage this year, including seven local musicians.

Chair of the Toowoomba Regional Council Environment and Community Services Committee Councillor James O’Shea said the festival celebrates the best in Australian music and regional flavours.

“It’s with great excitement that we announce the line-up for the Festival of Food and Wine as part of Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers,” Cr O’Shea said.

“This year we are excited to welcome music makers who have created some of our country’s biggest anthems, as well as more local musicians than ever before in a wonderful three days of celebration.”

Headlining acts include ARIA award-winning artists Sarah Blasko, Grace Knight and Wendy Matthews.

They will also be joined by ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Richard Clapton, five-time ARIA nominated Ash Grunwald and GANGgajang.

While 22-year-old Toowoomba singer-songwriter James Ryle will kick off the three-day festival on the Friday night.

More than 40 food and wine stalls will be operating at the event with the option to pre-purchase carnival hampers showcasing local produce.

The Festival of Food and Wine will run from September 10 to 12.

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday.
